In this mode, the iBoss Enterprise Web Filter is connected to a mirror/span port on the network switch or core router. The iBoss will fully reassemble packets sent via the mirror port to apply stream based application level filtering on the network. Block packets are injecting back into the network as necessary and activity is reported to the enterprise reporter.

Mirror/TAP Load Balancing

The iBoss fully supports load balancing on a TAP/Mirror port using an external load balancing appliance such as the Gigamon™ Gigastream™. Traffic can be divided and balanced across many iBoss appliances to achieve multi-gigabit and 10G filtering speeds.

Layer 7 Application Filtering Via Tap/Mirror

Unlike other TAP/Mirror based filters which strictly filter URL and web based traffic, the iBoss can deliver application filtering via a single TAP/Mirror interface. This significantly reduces cost and in addition reduces load on the router or switch providing mirrored traffic.
